Khartoum Teacher Training

During the war, several hundred thousand South Sudanese fled to the North and presently live in and around Khartoum. Ventures similar to the Boma project are currently impractical in Khartoum as black Christians are considered far inferior to the Muslim and are treated with disdain.  So, in Khartoum we took a different approach.  In the fall of 2005, just after the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed, a team of Bible trainers went to Khartoum and held a conference for church leaders on how to reach the next generation with the love, forgiveness and reality of Jesus Christ.  We believe the hope and future of Sudan rests in its children and the potential for godly leadership they represent.  The response was very encouraging as about 90 young people representing 40 churches attended that first year and again in 2006 and 2007.  Our goal of identifying a cadre' of leaders the Lord would use to carry on this training themselves was realized in 2007. A group of 22 young people representing 17 churches have committed themselves to meeting on a regular basis for prayer, mutual encouragement, sharing of ideas with the goal of organizing their own training workshops for children's leaders in Khartoum and beyond. The role of SEA Partners will be to support and encourage this group of leaders by supplying resources and providing them with more intensive training as the Lord allows.
