President Salva Kiir has declared a national emergency in Boma State due to the heavy flooding. Over 400,000 people have been displaced and have lost everything.
The US government, through its humanitarian arm, has promised $92 million in emergency response aid. This is great news but it might take some time to get it into the hands of the suffering people.
